The forest garden and orchards are situated in an electricity way-leave (no oak trees were hurt in the making of this garden!). About 150 fruit and nut trees have been planted, unusual varieties selected specifically for the local climate. Because of low light levels, little grows under the fruit trees, so clearings have been created in the fruiting forest for the understory layer of soft fruit; perennial vegetables and a system of "lazy beds" where a variety of annual vegetables are grown. Pest control is by poultry; companion planting and ponds for frogs and toads.
