A meeting with the Community Land Unit was held on the 16th November 2005 to discuss the possibility of raising funding for a full feasibility study into the Acharossan Forest Village. Present were Marna Diack and Neil Ross of the Community Land Unit, Gordon Gray Stevens of Scottish native Woods, Fred Robson, Secretary of the Community Council and David Blair of the Dunbeag Project. It is likely that the funds for the feasibility study will come from several sources such as the CLU, ALI Energy and Communities Scotland.

At the meeting it was expressed that the project has to be lead by the community and for the project to move forward a steering group needs to be established in collaboration with Kilfinan Community Council and partners. A meeting has been arranged for the 29th of November to form a steering group. With this support, funding will be available to support the Socio-economic element of the feasibility study. Before community acquisition of Acharossan forest can go ahead, the steering group would have to form a fully constituted community body acting as a company limed by guarantee, possibly with charitable status.
